Happy Monday to all my fellow stylistas! I am SO excited to showcase one of my new favorite boutiques: Ruffles Boutique!
Located in Brighton, NY- this little gem has everything you could ever need: from shirts, jeans, skirts, dresses, purses, jewelry, scarves, business attire and more! Their motto is “Classic. Preppy. Fun.” which perfectly describes The Upstate Stylista!
Owner, Ginger Northrop, has lived in Rochester for about a year and a half and opened Ruffles Boutique in November of 2013. She originally grew up in Connecticut, then lived in NYC where she was a buyer for Ralph Lauren’s corporate offices.
“Ruffles is a boutique for young professional women- women in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. We carry unique, classic and preppy items that can bring a young women from a business casual workplace, to the evening, to the weekend. I try to find brands that are not represented in Rochester and people seem to be reacting well to both our styles and our price points.”
“After moving up to Rochester, I had trouble finding a good place for young women to shop local- all of my friends said they shopped at the mall or online. So I decided to go for it and made my dream come true with Ruffles Boutique!”
And I am SO happy she decided to run with her dream and open so now I have a go-to place to shop for any occasion!!!
The boutique was so bright, welcoming, clean, neat, organized and refreshing. Everything had it’s exact place and nothing was crammed or cluttered which is a huge thing for obsessive compulsive gals like myself! It made it so nice to shop through and see every single piece she had. Ginger frequently heads to NYC to numerous buy shows- making sure everything she carries in the store is current, stylish and on trend!
When walking in, I felt like I had died and went to Vineyard Vines heaven! I was so excited to see she carried one of my all time FAVORITE preppy brands!!! From shorts, tanks, button ups, pull-overs, to skirts- Ruffles had a wide variety of this brand! Here are some of my favorite pieces:
Watermelon Embroidered Dayboat shorts- $98
Mini Gingham Shirt- $80
Scribble Lattice Tunic Top- $135
Whale Embroidered Dayboat Skirt- $98
And my ALL time favorite- Gingham Shep Shirt- $125
Ruffles carries the most COMFORTABLE jeans I have ever worn in my life! They are by a brand called Just Black– which is made right here in the USA. This brand uses the finest quality fabrics, all made with stretch… making these jeans perfect to wear all day long!!! They come in all different colors and sizes- my favorite being the coral colored jeans! My favorite fit is the Boyfriend fit which is more loose fitting and comfier on curvier girls like me!
Jachs Girlfriend might be one of my new favorite brands, which I would have never known about if it hadn’t been for Ruffles! Their soft cotton plaid button-downs are so insanely comfortable, I wanted to walk right out with it on! It has a cute floral lining under the collar and sleeves, so when rolled up you can show a little bit of your girly, feminine side while still looking laid-back and cozy.
Jachs Girlfriend: Green Plaid Button-Up- $89
Mahi Gold is a brand I was swooning over while I was there! Super preppy with a nautical, beachy feel… I was loving their dresses and shirts! This brand is also made in the USA which I love! It is 95% cotton and 5% lycra jersey- making it light, soft and comfortable to wear on those hot summer days. My favorite was the Claire Dress in the Teal Playa print!
Mahi Gold: Claire Dress-$98
Three Dots is made with the highest quality fabrics making it extremely soft to wear. The fit of each of the shirts I tried on was incredible. I definitely see myself owning numerous articles in different colors and styles! One thing that I love -and is the reoccurring theme at Ruffles Boutique- is that this brand is designed and made in America! Two of my favorite pieces were the Mixed Stripe Wrap- $120 and V-Neck Fitted Lace Dress- $176.
I had a very Chanel moment in this stunning blazer by Aris A. Coco Chanel look at a million times less of a cost- Yes please! It was so feminine with embellished pearls and fun leopard print lining the inside. Definitely one of my favorites! Now time for tea dahhhling….
Aris A. USA- $140
This dress by Olive and Oak completely caught my eye- first of all, it’s navy blue- one of my favorite colors… second, it’s flirty and feminine with lace overlay. Plus not to mention the fun little cut-out in the back! Helloooo new wedding season dress!!!
Olive and Oak- Open Back Geometric Lace Fit & Flare Dress- $70
And check out this oversized, comfy yet stylish cotton blend stripped sweater! How great is this for a chillier spring day?!
Olive and Oak: Stripped Sweater- $65
I completely fell in love with this wrap dress by Leota from their Resort 2014 collection. First thing that came to mind was it reminded me of a Diane Von Furstenberg dress, but of course way more affordable! So nautical and beachy…. which is right up my alley!
Leota: Geometric wrap dress- $175
Ruffles Boutique also carries jewelry by Julie Vos! Julie Vos has appeared in magazines such as Marie Claire, Lucky, In Style, Martha Steward and Vogue- just to name a few. Her pieces are all nickel-free, allergy free and made with real semi-precious stones. I absolutely loved her bracelets! All are so beautiful to wear alone, or for a little more flare- stack a bunch together for some serious arm candy.
Check out how I stacked some of my favorite pieces:
All-in-all, Ruffles Boutique is your one-stop-shop for anything trendy, fun and stylish! If you are going for an all over preppy look, something a little more beachy, or even a day at the office- Ruffles has a little something for any article of clothing you are looking to wear!
